3 Unhealthy Winter Wellness Mistakes to Avoid

In business, you do a lot of stuff and stick with what works. It’s really that simple.

Well, it’s no different with your team’s wellness.

You have a list of things you do, and a list of things you don’t do.

But what shouldn’t you do?

And why not learn from the mistakes of others so you don’t waste your time making them?

Check out a few so you start off on the right foot:

1. Surviving on Energy Drinks to Avoid the Afternoon Crash

The reason you crash in the afternoon isn’t because of your lack of energy.

That’s the surface issue.

It’s because of the things that you do that cause your lack of energy.

Drinking energy drinks (which are terribly unhealthy in their own right) is kind of like putting a band-aid on a broken leg: it just doesn’t make much sense.

What could be causing your lack of energy? It could be a lot of things:

  • Overworking
  • Not sleeping enough
  • Unhealthy diet
  • Lack of exercise

If you’re really dialed into living a healthy lifestyle, you won’t even crash in the afternoon in the first place.

It can take some time to figure out the true cause. But it’s worth the effort.

2. A Frantic Start To Your Day

You know you’re living in a healthy way if you feel excited and motivated to start your day almost every day.

If you keep wanting to hit that snooze button until the last minute, only to race out of bed and haphazardly try to get yourself going, you’re setting the same chaotic tone for the rest of your day.

You end up making more mistakes, wasting energy, and throwing away a lot of your time.

When you feel calm and grounded, you make far more effective decisions. And you’re a lot more pleasant to be around.

Start with 10 minutes of meditation. Eat your breakfast.

If you have trouble getting your day started on time, take care of things the night before so you’re not overwhelmed and out of control.

When you’re calm and focused, you’ll be far more productive, useful, and friendly.

3. Too Much Caffeine

Caffeine should not be your primary source of energy. If you feel the need to let it run your entire life, you may need to consider some big-time changes.

Heavy caffeine use causes insomnia, nervousness, muscle tremors, a fast heartbeat, fatigue, and irritability.

And the sugar it usually comes with causes weight gain and high cholesterol, which can lead to heart attacks.

Do any of those sound like desirable effects?

Instead, you need more sustainable energy. And the way to get that comes through eating healthy veggies.

Add to that sufficient rest, and you’ve got a great foundation for boundless energy, feeling great,  and being at your best.
